Full-time High School Pastor (Grades 9-12)

Church Description

Choong Hyun Mission Church/Charis Mission Church is a Korean-American Presbyterian church (KAPC denomination) in Los Angeles, CA that centers on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are a church of 1500 in Sunday attendance, with a thriving and growing Education Department (ED) of +300 children from infant to high school students.

Job Description

1. Preach the Gospel to 9-12 graders during weekly Sunday worship and lead Bible studies

2. Disciple and counsel students (pastoral care)

3. Organize outings and calendar events (e.g. seasonal retreats)

4. Inspire, train, love and recruit High School volunteers and meet monthly

5.    Engage and interact with parents (e.g. PTA) for the well-being of students and their families

6.    Implement yearly teaching goals using assigned Bible-based curriculum

7.    Oversee budgetary needs

8. Exemplify the Four-Core Values of ED: Scriptural, Pastoral, Relational, and Missional

9.    Other duties as assigned for full-time church pastoral staff member

Qualifications

1. Seminary graduate from an accredited institution

2. Must be fully devoted to God and to the church of Jesus Christ and be committed to expressing that devotion to youth

3. A Gospel-centered Reformed doctrinal convictions

4. Youth group ministry experience of at least 3 years, and at least 1 year as a youth pastor. Experience in a large Korean-American church context is preferred

5. Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, people management skills, and computer/tech skills

Working Relationships

1. Report to ED pastor

2. Work closely with ED department pastors, leaders, and ministry teams and must be able to collaborate well with others.

Working Hours

Full-time position 40 hours/week
