Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church (GSPC) is located east of Los Angeles in the city of Chino Hills. GSPC is a member of the ECO denomination (A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians). We are in the process of hiring a part-time pastor to lead our upper Elementary [grades 4-6] department called ROCK. We are looking for a shepherd who will love, teach, and guide our young children toward our Lord Jesus Christ. This is a part-time position for leading the Midweek (Friday) evenings worship, Sunday Worship, staff training and meeting, Vacation Bible School in Summer, and PTA communication. We currently have about 35 elementary students attending our ROCK and 5 staff members serving in the ministry.

Job Purpose:

To serve GSPC by cultivating a purposeful, fun, healthy and engaging discipleship culture for kids between 4-6^th grade. This involves developing an inspiring relationship with kids with helping them develop their personal faith in Christ.

Our desire is the ROCK director will work to create a consistent standard of excellence and strive to expand the quality of the Sunday worship services, small group activities, and special programs. 

Qualification:

1. Currently enrolled in or graduated from a theology program at an accredited seminary.

Verification will be requested prior to hiring.

2. Fluency in English. Fluency in Korean is not necessary, but this position requires a good communication with some Korean speaking parents.

3. Previous children’s ministry experience preferred but we will consider all applications.

4. Must have a family-centered ministry mindset, as parents are a crucial part of the ministry.

Responsibility and Requirement:

*Leadership:

·      Leading Friday evenings worship (GSPC is currently doing AWANA on Friday)

·      Preach and lead at Sunday Worship service weekly

·      Leading the staff training and meeting monthly

·      Planning the Vacation Bible School in Summer

·      Lead and develop faith moments for kids by creating essential events

* Connection

·      Make ROCK ministry fun and warm welcoming for kids and their parents.

·      Build genuine relationships with kids and parents through ministry events and casual conversations

·      Hold PTA meeting(s) once a year or more when necessary

* Collaboration

·      Attend Education Dept. meeting on Sunday and GSPC United Worship once a month 

·      Work with appropriate staff, volunteer, and leaders at church to carry out vision and goal of the church 

* Faithfulness 

·      Stay engaged in a personal growth with Jesus by GSPC’s values and spiritual practices

·      Keep current in related fields and best Christian life practices 

·      Cooperate with Head Pastor by performing appropriate related duties when assigned and instructed.
