Associate Youth Pastor

Overview: The Associate Youth Pastor will work with the Senior Associate Youth  Pastor to establish and cultivate the community building in youth ministry through discipleship & student leadership. Associate Youth Pastor would oversee high school ministry as high school students would be expected to disciple the junior high students. 

Responsibilities

• Works/submits under the vision & direction of the Senior Associate Youth Pastor

• Oversees the High School Ministry. This includes:

  • Visitation/Pastoral Counseling

  • Weekday Gatherings (such as Friday nights)

  • Ministry-specific events

• Establishes & develops a discipleship program for youth. This includes

  • Working together with SAY Pastor to develop a program

  • Overseeing & organizing the program as a whole

  • Overseeing the leaders involved

  • Connecting with the schools to further expand discipleship

• Oversees & organizes the youth student leadership. These teams include:

  • Prayer Team

  • Welcome/Care Team

  • Outreach Team

  • Praise/Tech Team (works with the Worship Director)

• Shares the pulpit with the Senior Associate Youth Pastor

• Collaborate & oversee on seasonal events (like retreats) with the SAY Pastor + Worship Director

Qualifications

• Required:

  • A clear calling & passion for pastoral ministry for youth

  • Graduate of an accredited seminary with a Master of Divinity degree

  • 2+ years of ministry experience involved in youth ministry

  • Willingness to uphold to the Southern Baptist theology

  • Willingness to work with the pastoral staff & with the church

  • Able to lead & work in team settings

  • Strong desire to build & develop pastoral relationships with leaders & with students

• Preferred:

  • Has a heart for & a proficient understanding of the Korean immigrant church 

  • Has experience in developing discipleship programs in their ministries

  • Proficient in speaking & understanding the Korean language

  • 5+ years of ministry experience involved in youth ministry
