지난주, 제가 섬기는 호스피스의 간호사들과 동료 스태프들을 위해 준비했던 아침 묵상과 기도를 여러분과 함께 나눕니다.

Good morning, everyone. This is Chaplain Don.

Since Saturday, our hearts have been heavy with grief over the tragic death of Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse and devoted healthcare worker from Minneapolis. His life was defined by compassion—a life dedicated to serving veterans, neighbors, and the most vulnerable among us. His loss is felt deeply by his family, his community, and healthcare workers across the nation.

In this time of collective mourning, let us lift our hearts in prayer:

Dear God of compassion and justice

We honor the memory of Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse whose heart and hands brought healing to so many. May the depth of his care reflect the radiant depth of Your mercy.

We pray for his family and friends, for those who mourn his absence, and for the colleagues struggling to make sense of this senseless loss. Comfort those whose grief feels too heavy to bear, and grant them a peace that endures beyond fear and confusion.

We pray for our nation, troubled by violence and division:

Give us courage to stand with the weak and the wounded.

Give us clarity to see the inherent dignity in every human soul.

Give us resolve to pursue mercy and justice in every act of care.

May the witness of Alex’s life deepen our own compassion. May we be instruments of healing in a world that longs for peace.

지난 토요일, 미니애폴리스의 중환자실(ICU) 간호사이자 헌신적인 의료인이었던 알렉스 프레티(Alex Pretti) 가 비극적으로 목숨을 잃었다는 소식이 들렸습니다. 평생을 자비로운 마음으로 참전 용사를 섬기고 이웃을 돌보며 '치유자'의 삶을 살았던 그의 부재는, 남겨진 가족과 지역사회뿐만 아니라 전국의 동료 의료인들에게도 커다란 슬픔과 충격으로 다가옵니다.

그를 애도하며, 함께 마음을 모아 기도를 드리고자 합니다.

자비와 정의의 하나님,

참전 용사들과 이웃들, 그리고 고통받는 환자들에게 치유의 손길을 내밀었던 간호사 알렉스 프레티의 삶을 기리며 당신 앞에 나아갑니다. 그가 보여준 헌신적인 돌봄 속에 당신의 무한한 자비가 깃들어 있었음을 고백합니다.

상실의 아픔 속에 있는 그의 가족과 친구들, 그리고 이 비극적인 상실 앞에 망연자실한 동료들과 지역사회를 위해 기도합니다. 슬픔의 무게를 견디기 힘든 이들을 위로하여 주시고, 두려움과 혼란을 넘어선 하늘의 평안을 허락하여 주시옵소서.
